Who has never heard of the beautiful AOC Margaux? This appellation, officially created in 1954, resonates in history and is the southernmost of Médoc. Its magnificent soil of gravel and sand explains why it has nearly 21 châteaux classified Grand Cru in the 1855 classification . Covering 1,500 hectares, Margaux is also the largest communal appellation in the area and produces only red wines. The grape variety is typically Médoc with a majority of Cabernet-Sauvignon (55%), followed by Merlot (38%) .
