The history of Château Montrose began in 1815 when Étienne Théodore Dumoulin discovered a neglected plot of land belonging to his family. Convinced of the potential of this terroir, he decided to plant a vineyard there. This is the beginning of a legend: 40 years later, the property is distinguished as Second Grand Cru in the prestigious classification of 1855. Since then, it has continued to rise to the top. Passing through various owners such as Mathieu Dollfus in 1866, then the Charmolüe family in 1896, to whom we owe a large part of the fine development of the farm, it was finally Martin and Olivier Bouygues who bought the 95 hectares in 2006. They therefore began a vast project to modernize the facilities, allowing this illustrious castle to be today part of the absolute elite of the region of Bordeaux. A large half of the vines are grown organically and the Cabernet-Sauvignon and Merlot grape varieties represent the of the plantations, supplemented by Cabernet-franc and Petit verdot. The vineyard is managed with absolute rigor, allowing the Bouygues family to produce crus of incredible aromatic elegance vintage after vintage.
