Wine: The Château Pontet-Canet is a true pioneer in the world of Bordeaux Grands Crus. The property has in fact converted to biodynamics from the 2010 vintage and all of the 81 hectares are used here to produce one and only Grand Vin, proving the high quality the terroir of this 5th Grand Cru Classé. This 2017 vintage is characterized by a superb energy as well as a elegant mouthfeel as desired. Remarkably fragrant, this cuvée also presents silky tannins as well as a very complex aromatic palette: red and black fruits, lovely freshness on the palate, notes of leather , undergrowth...simply great!

The estate: The story of Pontet-Canet began in the 18th century thanks to Jean-François de Pontet, Grand Squire to Louis XV. Three centuries later, the property now belongs to the Tesseron family, a big name in Bordeaux. Jean-Michel Comme, manager of the Château, applies the vision of the siblings through a total qualitative requirement in the vineyard as well as in winemaking as well as an absolute respect for nature. Since 2010, Pontet-Canet has also acted as a pioneer in the region since the 81 hectares of the farm were officially converted to biodynamics. In addition, no tractor is accepted in the vineyards but only horses so as not to compact the soil. The cellars have also been totally renovated and the yeasts used in vinification are indigenous. Château Pontet-Canet is also known for carrying out part of its aging in amphorae composed in part of soil components from its own land in order to push the expression of the place to the climax in the wines. This human, environmental and viticultural approach allows the Tesserons to produce Pauillacs that are driven by freshness and evoke a very special energy while maintaining magnificent aging potential.
