The wine : Clos Saint-Jean is one of the flagships of the Premier Crus of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation. On this sublime terroir, the Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate offers us an intense wine with incredible length. The excellent ripeness of the harvested grapes gives this cuvée a powerful and complex palate developing on citrus fruits, while the meticulous barrel aging brings it roundness and indulgence. A great mineral structure also runs through this cuvée and is particularly noticeable on the finish. It is this latter quality that will allow this truly great Chardonnay to age brilliantly over the years. One of the finest references in Chassagne, without a doubt!

The estate : Winemakers since 1951, the Picard family is a major sibling group in the Burgundian wine world. Heading up 4 estates, they own 140 hectares in the region. Created at the end of the 2000s, Au Pied du Mont Chauve is the latest addition to the family and the brilliant idea of Francine Picard. She succeeded her father Michel in 2007 and thus took over the management of all the family estates. The estate covers 35 hectares located in the finest appellations of the Côte de Beaune: Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, as well as several Grands Crus such as Corton-Bressandes and Corton-Charlemagne. The vines have been cultivated biodynamically for several years, although no official certification appears on the bottles. The winemaking is carried out with the aim of bringing out the uniqueness of each terroir, and the great mastery of aging enhances their originality. Despite the young age of the estate, the family's long experience has very quickly propelled the wines produced to the top, and critics unanimously praise the work of this magnificent estate.
