The AOC Mâcon is located in the south of Burgundy and extends over nearly 4,000 hectares, planted with Chardonnay for more than 90%. 27 municipalities can produce Mâcon-Villages by specifying their name on the bottle. Excellent white winesare produced here, generally showing a fleshy and greedy profile and presenting a more solar character in comparison to those produced in the north of the region. The terroir is clay-limestone but more siliceous soils also allow the Pinot noir and Gamay grape varieties to flourish in the south of the appellation. Most of the wines produced are intended to be drunk within three to five years.
