The wine : This Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the Usseglio family is a model of power in a velvet glove ! Intoxicating on the nose and on the palate, it reveals a very pretty dense substance, deep and perfectly balanced. Aromas of morello cherries, plums and blackberries mingle with fragrant spices (pepper, cinnamon, garrigue) as well as a note of toast brought by its aging in barrels. A very great wine that can be enjoyed in its youth but which will evolve wonderfully over 15 years or more. Superb!

The estate: The Châteauneuvoise history of the Usseglio family dates back to 1931 , the year in which Francis Usseglio left Italy to settle in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and work there as an agricultural worker. In 1948, the latter had the opportunity to exploit 8 hectares of vines in sharecropping and therefore decided to create his own estate. His son Pierre will take over and continue to develop the family business. Now comprising 39 hectares including 25 of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 6 of Lirac, 6 of Côtes-du-Rhône and 2 in AOC Vin de France, the vineyard is now managed by the 2 sons of Pierre: Jean-Pierre and Thierry Usseglio. The two brothers look after a very beautiful heritage of vines, half of which are over 65 years old, as well as a wide variety of terroirs including the famous pebbles but also clay-limestone and sandy soils. The estate has now become a reference farm in the region and all production enjoys a very high level of quality thanks to superb work in the vineyard and in the cellars.
