Located on the south bank of the Loire, opposite of Vouvray, the Montlouis-sur-Loire appellation extends over approximately 450 hectares and is dedicated to the production of white and sparkling wines from the variety Chenin. The terroirs here are composed of clay-limestone, siliceous and sandy-silty soils, offering a great diversity conducive to the expression of the grape variety. Long in the shadow of its neighbor Vouvray, some renowned winegrowers like the Blot family of Domaine de La Taille aux Loups were able to reveal these magnificent lands and prove that they could produce some of the finest wines in the entire Loire.
