The spirit: The Rhum Vieux by Neisson is a delicious blend of aged agricultural rums between 3 years and 9 years in French oak barrels as well as in old bourbon barrels. On the nose as on the palate, a great aromatic intensity emerges: oaky and spicy notes (oak, vanilla, pepper, cloves) mingle very harmoniously with aromas of apricot, stewed white fruits, pineapple, honey and sugar cane. A delicate floral touch completes the great richness of this rum. The finish is very fresh, with vegetal notes of sugar cane. A magnificent old agricultural rum for connoisseurs!

The brand: Smallest distillery in Martinique, Neisson is a convoluted kaleidoscope of green and pink houses that seem to have wanted to imitate the surrounding lush vegetation. Since 1932, three generations have succeeded each other, preserving know-how from the greatest Martinican tradition. Grégory Vernant-Neisson, young forty-year-old at the head of the distillery, explains about his rum which benefits from the AOC Rhum Agricole Martinique: “The first thing to know about Martinican rum is that it is made from the juice of sugar cane directly, not molasses.” Behind the Neisson philosophy, particular attention is paid to terroir value. Because Martinique, with its climate and volcanic soil (particularly in the north of the island where the distillery is located), stamps the aromatic palette of Neisson rums with particular flavors recognized throughout the world.
