The wine : Coming from a plot selection, only the oldest vines (75-90 years ) from the Usseglio family go into the final blend of this superb cuvée. Distinguished by its great concentration, it is a wine pure and silky evolving at first on noble black fruits such as cherry, blackberry and Cassis. Then, an intense power develops on the palate and notes of cocoa, pepper and garrigue appear before the whole ends in a sublime length. Fine and deep, this is a VERY great Châteauneuf-du-Pape capable of evolving brilliantly over 20 years!

The estate : The Châteauneuvoise history of the Usseglio family dates back to 1931 , the year in which Francis Usseglio left Italy to settle in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and work there as an agricultural worker. In 1948, the latter had the opportunity to exploit 8 hectares of vines in sharecropping and therefore decided to create his own estate. His son Pierre will take over and continue to develop the family business. Now comprising 39 hectares including 25 of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, 6 of Lirac, 6 of Côtes-du-Rhône and 2 in AOC Vin de France, the vineyard is now managed by the 2 sons of Pierre: Jean-Pierre and Thierry Usseglio. The two brothers look after a very beautiful heritage of vines, half of which are over 65 years old, as well as a wide variety of terroirs including the famous pebbles but also clay-limestone and sandy soils. The estate has now become a reference farm in the region and all production enjoys a very high level of quality thanks to superb work in the vineyard and in the cellars.
