Wine: Located just north of Beaune, the Clos du Roi is without doubt one of the most emblematic premier crus of its appellation; the latter notably in front of his name at the many royal tables having welcomed him over the centuries. The vines of the Decelle & Fils estate here are more than 50 years old and the grapes harvested produce year after year intense, fragrant wines that promise to be kept for a long time. At the tasting...that's all simply one huge slap awaiting you! Ppower and complexity emanating in the mouth where deep spicy aromas are immediately apparent (pepper, cloves, star anise etc.). A fruity (cherry, blackberry) full of maturity and accuracy also blends brilliantly with a very charming touch of toast brought about by the 18 months of aging in barrels. An extraordinary length finishes the tasting of this brilliant cuvée, constituting a very big favourite ! A bottle you won't soon forget!

The Estate: Founded in 2009 by Olivier Decelle (Mas Amiel in Languedoc, Vineyard of Boisseyt in le Rhône, Château Jean-Faure in Saint-Émilion) and Pierre-Jean Villa (a famous winemaker from the north of the Rhône Valley), the estate was initially called Decelle-Villa. Following the latter's departure in 2020, the business changed its name to become Decelle & Fils. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the house now has 7 hectares grown organically on the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. The twenty cuvées produced from the different appellations perfectly express the diversity of character of the Burgundian terroirs and climates.
