Château Les Croisille - Cahors - La Pierre 2022

The wine: La Pierre is a superb Cahors all in concentration and finesse made by the Croisille family. This great wine was aged for 10 months in a limestone vat from the region's terroir and which the siblings had tailor-made by a local craftsman ! Energy and minerality thus emerge from this unique bottle which evolves in the mouth on a velvety texture, accompanied by a very charming fruitiness ( black cherry, strawberry, blackberry) as well as a dash of graphite. A large bottle of terroir already perfectly accessible but also capable of improving over the years!

The Estate: In 1979, Bernard and Cécile Croisille arrive in the town of Luzech, very close to Cahors, without any technical background but with a devouring passion for the land and a life project. After difficult first years of planting and clearing their 7 hectares, the first harvest of 1984 finally arrived. Initially invested in the cooperative system, the couple decided 10 years later to vinify their own cuvées. In 2000, a brand new cellar was built and things accelerated when Germain, their second son, joined them at the estate. Then, Nicolas, Germain's childhood friend, also joined the estate in 2012. In 2013, the estate was officially converted to organic farming and in 2015 it was finally the turn of Simon, the last of the Croisille siblings, to join the family adventure in 2015. In recent years, the wines have continued to gain in precision and the Croisilles have today of around thirty hectares allowing them to offer a fine range of wines ranging from the pleasure cuvée to complex and refined Cahors.
