The AOC Coteaux du Layon is part of Anjou and is spread over 27 communes on either side of the Layon (a tributary of the Loire). The exceptional situation of the schist and clay terroirs in this area generates morning fogs and beautiful humidity, allowing the development of noble rot (botrytis cinerea) on the berries. Consequently, this area of 1,650 hectares only produces sweet or dessert white wines from the chenin grape variety. The wines express richness and indulgence and the best can be easily stored for several decades. The Domaine Ogereau is a reference in the region, and its cuvée from the Saint-Lambert terroir is a pure delight.
