The wine : This delicious Chenin sweet wine comes from a great schist terroir perfectly suited to the production of sweet wines. Here, the morning mists encourage "noble rot" (microscopic fungus Botrytis cinerea), allowing the berries to concentrate in sugars and aromas. This very particular climate, combined with the very precise selection of grapes at the beginning of over-ripeness by the Ogereau family, offers us a cuvée of great aromatic richness. It is indulgent, perfectly balanced and indeed finishes with a very digestible finish. Aromas of honey, acacia, peach, apricot, and candied mandarin emerge from the glass. Enchanting !

The estate : Located in Val-du-Layon south of Angers, the Ogereau estate now covers 24 hectares and has been certified Organic Farming since 2019. Emmanuel and his parents produce wines of all colors in AOC Anjou, Anjou-Villages, Savennières, Côteaux-du-Layon and Quarts-de-Chaume. Thanks to Vincent Ogereau, the estate has built a solid reputation since the 1980s and produces wines where the terroir is expressed with great precision.  Since 2014, it is Emmanuel (5^th generation) who continues this ongoing quest for identity. Harvesting is manual, indigenous yeasts are used, and the use of sulfur in winemaking is minimal. The terroir is mainly composed of schist, sand as well as volcanic rocks. The range of wines is wide but the minerality, the richness of the fruit, and the class of the aging are strong markers of this great estate of Anjou.
