The wine: Il rosso dell'Abazia is THE great red wine from the Serafini & Vidotto estate. Made from a blend of typically Bordeaux grape varieties, this cuvée nevertheless transports us straight away to Italy. The texture is in fact velvety, the silky tannins as desired and the body particularly rich. The aroma of this beautiful bottle is particularly warm, evolving with aromas of black fruits (griot cherry, blackberry), mild spices (vanilla, cinnamon) as well as pepper and eucalyptus. The whole thing is particularly charming and expresses a measured power. Pairings with red meats and cold meats. “Fuoriclasse” (outstanding) as our Italian friends say!

The estate: Francesco Serafini and Antonello Vidotto founded the 20 hectares-estate in their names in 1986. At that time, few vineyards existed in this very young DOC of Montello e Colli Asolani, located northwest of the city of Treviso in Veneto. However, they fell in love with the valley, the hills as well as the woods and banks of the Piave river. The passion of the two men for their region is certainly transmitted in their wines, where the search for finesse and purity magnifies their clay-ferrous terroir.
