Savagnin

You will find on this page all the wines made entirely or partly from the Savagnin grape variety. An iconic variety of the Jura region (which is, in fact, almost nonexistent beyond its borders), this grape covers 300 hectares here within the Arbois AOC, Château-Chalon, L'Étoile, and Côtes-du-Jura appellations, and is inseparable from the Vin Jaune it produces. The latter is a non-topped-up wine (the evaporation is never replenished) aged for a minimum of 6 years and 3 months in barrels. Thus, part of the wine is in direct contact with air, allowing the formation of a protective layer of yeast. Thanks to this incredible process, Vin Jaune wines offer enormous aromatic depth, developing notably notes of walnut, hazelnut, almond, and curry. The yellow wine is also known for being able to be cellared for several centuries. Finally, Savagnin can also be vinified in a traditional way. It will then reveal beautiful fruity aromas (citrus, green apple, peach, pear). Set out to discover it—an unforgettable experience guaranteed!
