The estate: In 2014, Matthieu Ponson created the Domaine de Piéblanc following a crush on the local terroir. Starting with 7 hectares, the property quickly developed, counting today 38 hectares, spread between the AOC Beaumes-de-Venise (15 hectares), Ventoux (10 hectares), Côtes-du-Rhône (7 hectares) and Gigondas (6 hectares). Located at the foot of Mont Ventoux, the vplots of the vineyard benefit from a warm mediterranean climate and are mostly located around 300m above sea level, allowing beautiful freshness and acidity to be preserved in the wines made. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Carignan are the most planted varieties, growing on a poor clay-limestone and sandy terroir, requiring the vines to dive deep in order to find the necessary nutrients. The estate has been officially certified in Organic Agriculture since 2020 and the last plots purchased in 2021 by Matthieu (notably those of the Bourdon vintage in Côtes-du-Rhône) are currently being converted.
