The wine: "L'îlot de Haut-Bergeron" is the only Sauternes to be able to boast of coming from a unique location on an island in the Ciron river classified NATURA 2000 (protection of biodiversity). The vines on this 4-hectare plot today have an average age of 25 years and produce a sweet wine of superb value for money offering exotic aromas, overripe peach and apricot or even honey acacia. A beautiful fat and vanilla content also constitutes this cuvée maintaining a lovely freshness. An excellent Sauternes to be enjoyed in its relative youth (under 10 years) with blue-veined cheeses or as a dessert.

The estate: Château Haut-Bergeron has been a family property for 9 generations (the first written records date back to 1756) belonging to the Lamothe family. With 47 hectares mainly made up of Sauvignon and Sémillon, the estate is a reference in the AOC Sauternes. Counting the Suduiraut and Yquem castles as illustrious neighbors, Haut-Bergeron easily rises to the level of many classified growths in the region in terms of quality while remaining accessible in price. The family can be proud of its heritage of old vines which it vinifies with great care and with great regularity. A gem to absolutely discover!
