The story of the Michel Redde et Fils estate began in the 1950s, when Michel Redde, a visionary winemaker, established his vineyard in Pouilly-sur-Loire, the emblematic cradle of the Loire Valley vineyards. With discipline, passion, and perseverance, he gradually built an estate renowned for its great white wines made from Sauvignon blanc, the hallmark of Pouilly-Fumé AOC.
This expertise has been passed down from generation to generation: Thierry, Michel's son, took over the estate. Now his own sons, Sébastien and Romain, continue this family adventure today with the same high standards. At the head of a modern estate, they uphold the founding values of the domain: listening to nature and striving for ever greater purity in the wines.
Each bottle from the estate embodies the legacy of this patient transmission, blending tradition and innovation. The wines of Michel Redde et Fils are today essential references of the Loire and Pouilly-Fumé, and are the result of an enduring family passion and a constant pursuit of excellence.
The Michel Redde et Fils estate covers around 42 hectares of vines, planted on some of the highest quality plots in Pouilly-sur-Loire, Saint-Andelain, and Tracy-sur-Loire (where the Château de Tracy is also located). This privileged location in the Loire Valley offers a unique natural environment, ideal for growing characterful white wines.
The soils are highly diverse. There are Kimmeridgian marls, rich in marine fossils, which bring tension and a subtle salinity to the wines; Barrois limestones, providing structure and elegance; as well as siliceous sands, which are the source of fruitier cuvées. These three main types of soil are distributed across the estate’s various plots, notably in iconic locations such as La Moynerie or Les Cornets, each giving rise to unique bottles.
This geological richness is complemented by a temperate continental climate due to the presence of the river. The Loire, by regulating temperatures, limits excessive heat in the summer and spring frosts. This microclimate encourages a slow ripening of the grapes, allowing the preservation of the grapes’ natural acidity, which is essential for producing fresh, vibrant, and balanced white wines.
This complex and living terroir is at the heart of the identity of the wines from Domaine Michel Redde et Fils. It gives rise to cuvées of great purity (such as Barre à Mine or La Moynerie), precisely expressing the nuances of each plot. It is thanks to this alchemy between soil, climate, and expertise that the Pouilly-Fumé wines produced here stand out among the best in the Loire, combining minerality, elegance, and remarkable aging potential.
The Michel Redde et Fils estate is above all an ambassador of the Pouilly-Fumé AOC. A jewel of the Centre-Loire, this appellation, exclusively dedicated to Sauvignon blanc, produces dry white wines renowned for their freshness and minerality. Thanks to emblematic plots such as La Moynerie or Les Champs des Froids, the estate brilliantly expresses the diversity of this sublime Loire Valley terroir. At the estate, each bottle reveals a balance between mineral tension and aromatic elegance, which is the hallmark of the great wines of the Loire.
Nevertheless, the expertise of the Redde family does not stop there. The estate also produces a cuvée (Gustave Dodin) in Pouilly-sur-Loire AOC.This AOC of 150 hectares allows the production of white wines made from the Chasselas grape variety and covers a small part of the Pouilly vineyard.
The wines of Pouilly-sur-Loire are characterized by their lightness, their freshness as well as their simplicity. They usually offer floral and fruity aromas, sometimes enhanced with a mineral touch. Less powerful and less complex than Pouilly-Fumé wines, they stand out for their smooth texture and more moderate acidity, making them pleasant wines to drink young, perfect as an aperitif or to accompany light dishes such as fish or cold cuts.
Flagship grape variety of the Pouilly-Fumé, Sancerre, Quincy, Reuilly, and Menetou-Salon appellations, Sauvignon Blanc reigns supreme over the Centre-Loire vineyards. In this region, it finds its greatest terroirs of expression as well as a climate tempered by the Loire, allowing it to reveal its full aromatic palette.
At Domaine Michel Redde et Fils, the variety is crafted with rigor and precision, giving rise to cuvées with very diverse profiles: straight, chiselled, and mineral wines (Barre à Mine) that express the purity of the soils, to broader, more structured or indulgent wines (Majorum, La Moynerie), carefully aged to gain in complexity.
Fresh, elegant, and highly precise, the estate’s white wines reflect the subtle encounter between a demanding grape variety and a family know-how passed down through several generations. Sauvignon Blanc here is more than just a grape variety: it is a signature, a language of the terroir, and a promise of typicity and finesse.
The Michel Redde et Fils estate offers a range of cuvées that brilliantly illustrate the richness and complexity of the Pouilly lands and its region. Each bottle is conceived here as a faithful expression of its origin.
La Moynerie is the signature cuvée of the estate, produced from the clay-limestone hillsides surrounding the family’s historic headquarters. This is a Pouilly-Fumé with perfect balance, all in indulgentprecision and finesse. Both accessible in its youth and suitable for aging, it is a safe bet to have in your cellar.
Barre à Mine, born from pure flint soil, stands out for its distinctive and sharp profile. Its lively, taut palate reveals characteristic gunflint aromas, smoky notes, and a saline finish. This is a wine of character, precise and slender, crafted to accompany gourmet cuisine, especially fine fish and roasted poultry.
Petit F… is the most accessible cuvée in the range. Pleasant and immediate, it charms with its fruity aromas and supple palate. Ideal for a gentle introduction to the estate’s world, it remains true to the house’s commitment to quality.
Les Bois de Saint-Andelain stands out in a broader and more generous register. Coming from plots combining deep clay and fragments of flint, this white wine develops a beautiful aromatic complexity, oscillating between ripe fruits, stony notes, and subtle spicy touches. Its structure and depth give it excellent aging potential.
Les Toupées explores a more aerial and floral register. Exotic fruits, white flowers, and a hint of honey compose a generous bouquet. On the palate, the texture is supple, almost velvety, with preserved freshness. A perfectly balanced cuvée, ideal with exotic, spicy, or sweet-and-savory cuisine.
Champs des Billons combines delicacy and tension. Its nose evokes white flowers and citrus fruits, while the palate, lively on the attack, evolves towards a chalky and mouthwatering finish. A chiselled cuvée, perfect with seafood, scallops, or matured goat cheeses.
Les Cornets, another single-vineyard cuvée from the estate, comes from a particularly expressive clay-limestone soil. It combines density, beautiful tension, and mineral expression, with notes of white fruits, citrus, and a straight, persistent finish. A structured wine, perfect with grilled fish dishes or white meats.
Majorum, produced only in the best vintages, is the estate’s flagship cuvée. It is a wine for contemplation, concentrated, deep, and of great mineral purity. The aromas of yellow fruits, heated flint, and smoke combine with a dense and taut palate, offering remarkable persistence. This is a great age-worthy Pouilly-Fumé, crafted for discerning enthusiasts.
Finally, Gustave Dodin, a tribute to an ancestral winemaker of the Redde family, is a rare cuvée in AOC Pouilly-sur-Loire, made from the Chasselas grape variety. More discreet, this grape delivers here a delicate wine with floral and fruity aromas, and a beautiful suppleness on the palate. Light, fresh, and perfectly easy to drink, it embodies another facet of the local terroir, more confidential but just as endearing.

The white wines of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation have an often underestimated aging potential. However, thanks to the richness of their terroir and their beautiful natural acidity, certain cuvées such as La Moynerie or Barre à Mine can be kept for between 5 and 10 years in the cellar, or even longer for the best vintages.
In order to preserve all their aromatic complexity, it is therefore recommended to store your bottles in a cool, dark place at a constant temperature, ideally between 10 and 14°C. A horizontal position is also advised to keep the cork constantly moist.
When properly stored, these great Loire Valley white wines will gain depth over time, developing more evolved, slightly honeyed notes, while retaining the typical mineral structure of Pouilly-Fumé.
