Located to the south-east of Bordeaux, the magnificent Sauternes appellation resonates in the ears of great lovers of sweet wines. The production of these sublime sweet wines is made possible thanks to very specific climatic characteristics allowing in particular the formation of morning fogs which will favor the development of noble rot (botrytis cinerea). The latter will act on the grapes by concentrating their sugar and acidity as well as their aromas. Landlocked in the Graves area, the Sauternes vineyard extends over more than 1,500 hectares with gravel and clay-limestone terroirs. The grape varieties planted here are semillon (70%), sauvignon blanc as well as the minority muscadelle . The blend of these three varieties allows the creation of wines counting among the greatest sweet wines in the world.
