The wine: Touching the Grand Cru Chapelle -Chambertin, the Premier Cru “Petite Chapelle” is one of the very best terroirs of the Gevrey appellation. The Marchand-Grillot family plot was planted there in 1978 and produces a wine of masterful complexity. delicious fruity aromas (raspberry, cherry, strawberry, redcurrant) emanate in tasting and mingle here with spicy notes (licorice, pepper). A touch of leather and undergrowth will also appear after a few years of aging. The tannins of this cuvée are also particularly silky and its texture is very smooth. A magnificent wine which can be enjoyed in its youth but which will reveal itself with even more panache as the years go by!

The estate: If the Marchand and Grillot families both knew a great winemaking tradition before the year 1950, it was during this vintage and through a marriage that their forces definitively joined forces to form the domaine Marchand-Grillot. Today, brother and sister Étienne and Marion watch over a 12-hectare vineyard with their father Jacques, spread mainly over Gevrey-Chambertin but also over Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny. The family philosophy is characterized by biosourced viticulture limiting interventionism in the vineyard and in the cellar. No synthetic pesticides or herbicides are used and the quantities of sulphites added are very moderate. The vinifications are also very gentle, bringing out the full potential of each terroir. Finesse and elegance are the key words here!
