The wine : Touching the Grand Cru Chapelle-Chambertin, The Premier Cru "Petite Chapelle" is one of the very best terroirs of the Gevrey appellation. The Marchand-Grillot family plot was planted there in 1978 and produces a wine of masterful complexity. Delicious fruity aromas (raspberry, cherry, strawberry, redcurrant) emanate during tasting and mingle here with spicy notes (licorice, pepper). A touch of leather and undergrowth will also appear after a few years of storage. The tannins of this vintage are also particularly silky and his material of great suavity. A magnificent wine which can be appreciated in its youth but which will reveal itself with even more panache as the years go by!

The estate: Although the Marchand and Grillot families both had a great winemaking tradition before 1950, it was during this vintage and through a marriage that their forces definitively united to form the Marchand-Grillot estate. Today, brothers and sisters Étienne and Marion watch over a 12-hectare vineyard with their father Jacques, spread mainly over Gevrey-Chambertin but also over Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny. The family philosophy is characterized by bio-sourced viticulture, limiting interventionism in the vineyard and in the winery. No synthetic pesticides or herbicides are used and the quantities of added sulphites are very moderate. The vinifications are also very gentle, bringing out the full potential of each terroir. Finesse and elegance are the key words here!
