The wine : This superb Port is a blend of wines that have spent at least 10 years in barrels. It expresses great complexity mixing aromas of caramel, toffee, spices (clove, nutmeg) and roasting (cocoa, coffee). The balance is very fair and the whole combines power and softness. A real delight to enjoy as an aperitif or with a beautiful chocolate dessert!

The estate: The company Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 and today has a superb heritage of 350 hectares of vines located in the 3 regions of Douro (Lower Corgo, Upper Corgo and Upper Douro) in Portugal allowing the production of red and white wines as well as exceptional Ports. In 1990, the company was bought by the Roederer family business. Under the Ramos Pinto banner there are several properties, namely Quinta do Bom Retiro, Quinta da Urtiga, Quinta dos Bon Ares and Quinta da Ervamoira. The terroir of the latter which interests us here is composed of 150 hectares of mainly granitic soils.
